Amenities, Med Center Proximity Draw First New Home Buyers to Meridiana Master-Planned Community

MANVEL/IOWA COLONY, TX (March 17, 2016) – The new Texas 288 master-planned community of Meridiana has landed its first new homebuyers, two families who point to amenities and proximity to the Texas Medical Center as their primary reasons for choosing the community.

“From its focus on education to all the amenities, the concept of Meridiana was tailor-made for our family,” says Cue Felder, an information technology professional who works in the Texas Medical Center.  “Plus, the location is perfect for us.”

Felder’s wife Jackie also works in the Texas Medical Center as a licensed massage therapist.

After years of considering the purchase of a new home, Elaine and Renard Collins of Houston were equally impressed with Meridiana.

“We really like what’s taking shape with the Amenity Village and areas planned for events and concerts,” says Renard.  “Everything we need is right in the community.”

Both the Felder and Collins families purchased new homes by Taylor Morrison, part of Meridiana’s collection of new home builders including David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, Perry Homes, Plantation Homes, Ryland Homes, Shea Homes and Trendmaker Homes.

“Our two kids are ready to move,” adds Renard, who first learned about Meridiana while passing a billboard for the community.  After visiting the community with his wife Elaine, a Houston school teacher, the family was sold.

“When you come to Meridiana, you get a peaceful feeling,” he adds.

The 2,700-acre master-planned community, with the first of its 12 model homes opening soon, is located on Texas 288 and the future Meridiana Parkway (now County Road 56) south of the Texas Medical Center.

Meridiana offers plans on homesites from 50-100 feet in width, including 80 and 100-foot homesites in several gated sections.  Plus, Meridiana homesites will be five feet deeper than those in other master-planned communities.

Meridiana’s location on 288 just south of Highway 6 is expected to be a big draw for workers in Houston’s major employment centers, most notably the Texas Medical Center.  It also is likely to attract those working south of the community in Brazoria County at Dow Chemical, BASF, Freeport LNG and the Port of Freeport.

The community will feature a sprawling Amenity Village where residents can enjoy a resort-style family pool with cabanas and nearby café, kids’ splash pad and a spacious fitness center with on-site personal trainer, spin bikes, free weights and exercise machines.  The fitness center also will offer lockers, showers and a kids’ playroom.
The Amenity Village will be home to a glass-walled conservatory set over the water, ideal for receptions and special events, and a fully customized, 40-foot luxury Ambassador’s Yacht where Meridiana dog ambassador Soleil will invite residents to spend the night in honor of a birthday or special occasion.

Families also will enjoy an outdoor game area with giant chessboard, ping pong tables, washer toss, shuffle board and wide open spaces for play.

As part of the community’s unique education focus for every stage of life, the development team is working closely with faculty of the Alvin Independent School District to create engaging outdoor learning and discovery experiences, each with dedicated websites, as part of Meridiana’s first phase.  Each experience will be designed to fit into the District’s curriculum for students from kindergarten through high school.
