Cane Island Experiences Brisk Early Activity

Posted on May 11, 2015 in Cane Island

KATY, TX (May 11, 2015) – Just weeks after home builders in Cane Island opened their on-site sales offices, as many as 500 visitors per week are coming to the new Katy master-planned community to review floor plans and pricing for new family homes and luxury patio homes. “The response has been terrific, particularly among those who live in Katy who want to stay in the community,” says Christy Bashlor of David Weekley Homes. “Families are excited about the opportunity to live in a high-quality community north of Interstate 10 zoned to Katy ISD.” While Cane Island’s builders meet with prospective home buyers, several model homes and community amenities are starting to take shape. Perry Homes will open Cane Island’s first model home in June with several others opening soon after. Cane Island Parkway is completed within the community to Highway 90 with landscaping coming in along the now-completed stage of the parkway. The Cane Island interchange at I-10 is expected to open this fall when the four-lane, north-south boulevard less than four miles west of the Grand Parkway will serve as the main entry to Cane Island. Families currently can reach Cane Island from First Street in Katy. Cane Island’s Amenity Village is well underway as structures for the Welcome Center, Recreation Center, glass-walled conservatory and yoga studio are now visible. Construction also has started on Cane Island’s family pool and poolside café. “The Amenity Village has been a big selling point for us,” adds Bashlor. A four-acre setting, Cane Island’s Amenity Village will feature an outdoor amphitheater shaded by rescued, 75-year-old oak trees. Families also will enjoy a family pool with adjacent splash pad, adult pool, fully equipped, two-story fitness center, yoga studio and multi-purpose room with commercial kitchen. Cane Island’s Amenity Village will feature two spacious tree houses with decks offering elevated views of an amphitheater. It also will be home to Hub, a trained Golden Retriever who during the day will meet residents and guests, pose for pictures and even present his business card in his official capacity as Cane Island Ambassador. Periodically, Hub will invite residents to spend the night in his exclusive, fully furnished Ambassador Suite with direct access to the tree houses. The Welcome Center and fitness center are scheduled to open in August with the remainder of the Amenity Village scheduled to open in October. Cane Island features new family homes and luxury patio homes from Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes, Perry Homes, Ryland Homes, Shea Homes, Toll Brothers and Trendmaker Homes. Future phases call for the addition of Cane Island Elementary School, part of the Katy Independent School District, and the continuation of an extensive trail system and meandering waterways. Other residential neighborhoods, open green spaces, pocket parks and several play areas which pay tribute to the area’s history in railroads, oil and gas, farming and other industries also will be added. Developed by Rise Communities, Cane Island is minutes from the Energy Corridor, Katy Mills and Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital.
